Description
Anne of Avonlea is the sequel to Anne of Green Gables. It continues the story of Anne Shirley, an imaginative and headstrong young orphan in 1890s Canada, whose hot temper matches her red hair. Anne of Green Gables told of Anne's adoption by an elderly brother and sister, Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, and her childhood adventures in the idyllic village of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island. Anne of Avonlea takes up the story with Anne, now sixteen, soon after Matthew's death, when Anne has graduated from college. It follows her struggles and adventures as an aspiring writer and English teacher in a private school on the mainland.

Biography
This is Jay’s third play on the Kudzu Family Theatre stage; Ramona Quimby and Heidi being the other two. And yes, he did shave his head for this play. Jay has been seen on the Kudzu Theatre’s Main Stage in Breaking Legs, And Then There Were None, and Beau Jest. Other plays elsewhere have been A Christmas Story, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Arsenic and Old Lace, and The Sunshine Boys. And Jay will be seen later this year in Barefoot in the Park at Button Theatre. Jay would like to thank Jeannie Hinds for casting him in this great play. He would also like to thank his wife Tammy and his six kids (felines) for allowing him out to play.
